Toyota has confirmed that the next generation Toyota Kluger will be available in both petrol and a Hybrid option.
The new model is set to arrive in early 2021 at this stage. Keep an eye on our social media pages and website for further updates as they come through.
The new 7 seat Toyota Kluger will embrace a dual-powertrain strategy similar to that adopted by the Yaris Cross SUV due later in 2020, as well as the latest generation C-HR and RAV4.
This will be the first time the Toyota Kluger has been offered in Australia with the hybrid range available. Toyota Hybrid models now account for more than one in every five sales of Toyota.
Toyota’s new Kluger will provide customers with the choice of a 2.5-litre new-generation hybrid system or a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine.
When in comes to powertrain options, the V6 engine will offer front and all wheel drive (AWD) options, whilst the Hybrid model will be exclusively smart AWD that involves front and rear electric motors.
Toyota engineers have developed a lightweight and highly rigid bodyshell with a low centre of gravity, which will provide the new Toyota Kluger with nimble handling and comfortable driving around town and on the highway.
Equipped with the advanced Toyota Safety Sense active safety tech, new Kluger will be safer than ever. The Safety Sense technologies are designed to help prevent or mitigate collisions across a wide range of traffic situations.
Toyota Australia’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Sean Hanley, said that the hybrid Kluger is a logical step for a company that has sold more than 15 million hybrid vehicles globally, including in excess of 135,000 in Australia.
"The all-new hybrid Kluger is the result of combining Toyota's hybrid leadership with extensive experience in SUVs, along with an unrivalled reputation for quality, durability and reliability," Mr Hanley said.
