The Art of Hybrid Technology | More than just a Prius
Toyota Australia is selling more Hybrid vehicles than ever before, with Toyota being a pioneer of self-charging hybrid technology.
The Toyota Prius was first introduced over 20 years ago, and since then, the research and development of electric motors, electric vehicles, and creating better petrol engines has dramatically improved.
Toyota has also won the gruelling LeMans 24-hour race with a Hybrid-powered race car.
Toyota now not only offers the Prius in its Hybrid lineup, it also adds the Hybrid platform to existing models including Toyota Camry, Corolla, C-HR, RAV4 and soon the Toyota Kluger and Yaris Cross.
What does this mean for you?
When hybrid vehicles were still very new, there might have been discussion on the pros and cons of them, talk about low performance, higher running costs, and higher purchase costs. Today, the technology has come a far way.
A year after the Toyota Camry was launched with a Hybrid model in 2017, almost 50% of all Camry orders were for the Hybrid platform.
With the introduction of newer Camry models, as well as other popular models including RAV4 and Corolla, the consumption of Hybrid vehicles has increased.
Whilst the Toyota Prius only comes in Hybrid, these other models are normal petrol or diesel variants, offered with an option to have the Hybrid platform, meaning you can enjoy both the style and features of the latest Toyota models, along with the advantages of Toyota Hybrid.
When it comes to power and efficiency, the new Hybrid models perform exceptionally well with similar power and drivability as their petrol or diesel variants.
There is no need to plug in your Toyota Hybrid vehicle as the vehicle’s engine will charge the battery as you drive.
With Toyota Service Advantage (TSA), the service pricing of your Hybrid is capped at the same price as conventional models during the TSA period.
As for the high-voltage Hybrid ‘traction battery’ in your Toyota Hybrid, vehicles purchased after January 1st 2019 will have their battery covered for 10 years as long as you have your annual inspection as per the vehicle logbook.
You can check out the cost differences for yourself on our website. Just go to the new car section and select the Hybrid model.
Driving a Toyota Hybrid is a pleasurable experience, and the models being released with the Hybrid platform is increasing. We recommend coming in and driving a Toyota Hybrid model for yourself. They are quiet, use less fuel, and use the latest Toyota Hybrid technology.
